update

After 8.5 hours of solid sleep, the world feels a little more usual again. I need to save my sleep-deprivation karma for when I really need it, a time that is surely coming. I think I'm still ~3-4 hours behind.

Ryan woke up at his usual 7am, an exclamation of "Fuck!" being his first utterance on greeting the morning. The man's crazy-busy. CS students do stay up all hours of the night writing programs in Lisp. CS students do not wake up at seven AM.

My classes are going decently. I have to put in a lot more time studying than I have, though. Today I suddenly became okay with taking the slow boat through the PhD program, I think. Then I wandered up to Rajeev's office hours (not of my own initiative, but following the herd out of the class) which actually was a productive 7 minutes of loitering.

I'm writing these little updates, because otherwise I won't know what's going on.

I don't know.. it's what the undergrad program can be like, though.

Let me know if you have more lisp questions.

Umm... so far I've been getting a lot more sleep than I have in undergrad, actually. Not that the semester's really started yet. I certainly have no reason to be awake before 10 am on any day, except that free breakfast ends at 9:30.

I think the thing to do is stay far, far away from any discipline that requires implementing anything.

Good luck. :/

Well, yes, but with math when it takes a long time you have the excuse that it's hard.

I'm going to pretend I didn't read any of this and I am not going to fear my future. In my world, grad school for CS is going to be fun.

I think it will be.
