it makes me want to go stick my head into the sand (or a pile of snow!)! every time I stroll over to antiacademia and see that little strip I get a headache. :)
It's the best comic strip ever! I always thought that "free food" stuff was some sort of running joke, but now I realize that it's true! I'm glad that it was the comic strip in my undergrad daily newspaper.
Are those little guys in the most recent couple strips supposed to be undergrads? Or just newly admitted grad students? I like how they're drawn so tiny to emphasize the contrast with that red goatee guy. I read this one (http://www.phdcomics.com/comics/archive.php?comicid=541) and thought of you :-) "Do I have a choice?" "You always have a choice." "Dang."
I think those new little guys are first-years. The red-headed guy is one of the three or four central characters - Michael Slackenerny. He once had some of the other grad students ask him to settle a bet they had placed on how long he had been a student, but he put the condition that if they had all guessed too low then he got to keep all the money, which he won.
They run that in the Tech (at Caltech) sporadically, it's not nearly as good as the strip that we used to have, but the guy teaches drawing for engineers or something here. I've heard he's better in print.

This one (http://www.phdcomics.com/comics/archive.php?comicid=308) is soooo true.
And I'm in the middle of this (http://www.phdcomics.com/comics/archive.php?comicid=315) right now, only without the supportive gf :-(
