rochester co-op

So, I think it's time to get moving with starting a co-op in Rochester. An ambitious project, yes, but it needs to be done. I am going to get started with seeking out connections in the community and looking for a group of true believers. I am also going to contact existing co-ops in the region and ask them about their experiences, details of incorporation, etc. Here are some upstate NY co-ops:

Also need to start crafting the "vision"... My own includes elements of USCA co-ops, the Swedish Nations, and TEP house (at MIT). Any ideas on what to name this entity and/or its house? "Rochester Student Cooperative Association" could be spiced up a little. Oh yeah, if you're thinking, "What is a Co-op??" then you should read What is a Co-Op? from NASCO. Then let me know if you want to be part of this endeavor. (-:

that article about the swedish nations first made me frown, but then I agreed with the author. the entire system must look odd to an outsider: it looks weird to me now, after only three years in exile!

I think it's time to reveal the truth, expose all, come out about the fact...
that you are a SECOND GENERATION COOPER!
That's right, the parental units were also co opers.
Buwahahaha

Upstate NY seems like a good co-op region. There should be more. The reason I chose Berkeley over CMU is the lack of co-ops in Pittsburgh. If Rochester gets one, perhaps someone some day will do the same for Pittsburgh.
