I always assumed hot springs were few and far between and only existed in mythical places like Yellowstone, Banff, and Iceland. I suppose I was wrong. Interesting to see how strongly they correlate with mountains. The few in the middle of the country seem to be right in the Ozarks, though not quite by the New Madrid earthquake site. Odd that there's one in Florida.
There are a number in California which are just very small springs. One in Big Sur is in the backcountry by a popular campsite in a redwood canyon and it has two small natural pools. People have used rocks found nearby to enlarge the pools slightly, but other than that, the springs are completely undeveloped.

I want a hot spring. I'm homesick.
