Flash-mob Cocktail Party: Success

Project: First Flash-mob Cocktail Party

Instigators: Tobin, Stefanos

Description: We obtained several mint plants, six limes, four liters tonic, 100 plastic cups, 100 drinking straws from the supermarket. A large number of packets of raw cane sugar were stolen from the on-campus coffee shop. One liter Bacardi white rum was obtained from Stefanos's house. An mail was sent out at 11:00 to the Grad Student Conspiracy mailing list with the following contents: "Okay, let's see how this goes. FIRST SPONTANEOUS FLASH-MOB[1] COCKTAIL PARTY. TODAY, 2PM, 151 BAUSH & LOMB HALL." At the appointed time, many individuals appeared. Mojitoes were prepared, served, and enjoyed. Music was played. Professors and other individuals walking through the hallway stared inquisitively. After 25 minutes, participants left, in the direction of the departmental Colloquium, with an increased blood-alcohol content and smiles on their faces.

Cost: $34

Status: Success.
