Application to Berkeley

My application to UC Berkeley is away, it's on their metaphorical desk, and all its bits are fine. I dropped off its other half in person this afternoon, in a hand addressed manilla envelope bearing my lovely return address: '1 Cyclotron Rd'. High hopes.

Now where are my keys?

E-gacks!!!
It is bad enough that it's engineering but also applied. Must they rub it in that they apply their trade. (Alas, for some, theory is not enough.)

Yeah, the name of the department is rather vague and, in some sense, misleading. For example, one possible program they mention is this:

if a student is primarily interested in theoretical mechanics, he/she could take courses in engineering and mathematics, drawing equally on both for a balanced foundation, while not having to satisfy all the requirements for a Ph.D. in either mathematics or engineering.

So it can be 'applied' and 'theoretical' at the same time. (-: Or something.
