generation N+1

Via text message I was alerted last night that my cousin [livejournal.com profile] bobolly had just given birth, in London, to her & Simon's baby, Theodore Ashton Bull:

Theodore Ashton Bull

!

I was thinking this would make me some kind of uncle, but it seems that I only get "first cousin, once removed" status.

I'm still kind of disbelieving that one of my cousins has up and reproduced!

Oh, my. Congratz to the both of you (or the three or four of you, or, well, ... I suppose it does go on from there).

Strange, strange days. ;)

The species looks like it will go on a little longer. Fortunately, if I had to place my bets on any particular family member, Holly's genes would probably be one of the best bets!

This is the second birth announcement on my friends page today, and (I think) the fifth in two months.

I know three professors here who(se wives) all have due dates within the next two weeks, and another researcher I know had twins a week ago.

There must be something in the air.

(Also congratulations on your expanding family tree.)

Theo is starting the next generation for both families. We can't wait to see him in person!

what does it mean to be "removed"?

sounds like what happens when you're a rowdy drunk at a society party.
