07:30 wake up reluctantly. Bagels and cream cheese for breakfast.
09:30-11 E190 class. Gave my little talk in E190 -- it was marginal at best, but at least it's over with. OTOH, I got my quantum computing paper back the comments: ``Excellent paper overall. Now tidy up a bit and for chrissakes, use restrictive/non-restrictive clauses correctly!! Damn interesting paper as well. A/A-.'' Not bad for a contentless paper! (I consitently used `which' where I should have used `that' -- hence the rest./non-rest. clause comment/)
11-12 Lunch of sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice at the food court on Hearst, $3.50
12-13 Work at LBL. Plugged my duck model into the Fienup code. It does seem to converge, although not as neatly as the lysosime. Various reflections of an image all generate the same fourier amplitude spectrum, so there's a sort of symmetry breaking somewhere where the duck `chooses' an orientation to which it shall converge.
13-14 Napping in Bechtel Engineering Library
14-15:40 CSUA office, reading Knuth's TeXbook. I hope to learn some T_EΧ-fu. Then bh wandered into the office and all the CSers looked up and said "Hi Brian!" with admiration in their eyes. He looks a lot older than I remember (from my view from the back seats of Pimintel five years ago, so grandfatherly.
15:40-17:20 English 117B. Altman is now lecturing on Anthony and Cleopatra. I'm quite behind in the reading.
17:20-18:30 Esperanto class. Read two stories. Homework: find and write to a pen pal.
19:00-19:30 Dinner. Delicious dinner tonight, with lasagne, black beans and rice, and several other dishes.
19:30-20:00 TV Watching -- the Simpsons
20:30-24:00 Washing the dishes -- with a break to make a phone call for Dan, and another break because inhaling the water+foodbits+soap aerosol from spraying off dishes really iritates my lungs. Probably didn't help that it was basically a peanut aerosol.
