Bees on a bottlebrush tree on my walk to school.

By the way, have you heard about the bees? They are dying. I have only one datapoint: my own backyard beehive in Orange County was discovered dead and eaten by wax moths a couple months ago.

DUDE. My folks and I have been calling these "bottlebrush trees" (in Russian literal translation) ever since we first saw one 14 yrs ago (actually, now that i think about, this might've even been the same one that you photographed, or at least somewhere really nearby).

I had no idea that's what they're really called!

I've been reading about the bee issues with interest... Was wondering if your hive had been affected. Bummer that something got it. :-/ Do you know if the bees disappeared and then the wax moths got in, or did you find dead bees when you opened it up?
