room-to-room?

Does anyone have any good stories from room-to-room parties? (Particularly in the co-ops, but in general too.) Any good themes? I remember when Kenny ([livejournal.com profile] easwaran) and Alex ([livejournal.com profile] probablevacancy) had Sweden and when they had the Weather Channel. I remember something about a confessional in Rebekah's room. Share your room-to-room stories and themes. Also, when was the Kingman room-to-room when Ping ([livejournal.com profile] zestyping) inverted his room?

the only parties like that ive been to were at frat houses and the theme was always "around the world"

ah the inverted room was the most awesome i've ever seen. it was spring semester of 2005. i think he posted a bunch of pictures from that but i'm feeling to lazy to search.

chateau had a pretty cool one (you came to it, if i remember correctly). the theme was heaven and hell and it was totally crazy as all good room-to-rooms are. we had a confessional with a drunken nun, the ten commandments room, which was essentially a fancy spin the bottle. the garden of eden was full of naked people and plants.

i miss room-to-rooms.

I had a pirate themed party that I thought was a lot of fun last year (of course, I threw it...so...). People made their own swords and stuff, and brought their own metal steins for their "pirate grog". I thought their should also be a rule that you couldn't eat anything unless you were eating it off a knife, but wasn't able to find enough stabbable food. We had a little eyepatch, no depth perception game of throwing stuff at targets, watched some pirates of the carribean, and drank. It was cool.

I was pondering having a ninja themed party, or at least a "dress up like your favorite kung fu movie character" party, but alas, I dont think my apartment could house so much fun.

5 rooms.

Julie Keller once did a "Helen Keller" room, where the lights were out and you followed a rope to where she sat; she served "Blind Me Bourbon" after you 'fingespelled' (convulsed your fingers in her hand, really) "water" to her.

We did a carnival room one year, where you threw darts at a wall with balloons--so much fun to do while trashed. There was a Valentine themed part to one room, where you put in your valentine to someone and the room person delivered it the next day.

Michael did "Your Adultorous Lover's Romantic Boudoir", where you thought you were meeting your adultorous lover, but it was really a sting operation by your affluent, old, white male husband. He had a picture of some business guy from the paper, and he drew a tear on it.

Justin did blowjobs in the lobby's bathroom.

John Gerralds and I did "Golden Showers" one year; we took Vodka and pineapple juice, put it into a water bottle, and attached a turkey-baster to the end such that when you squeezed the bottle, it shot out this yellow drink. We then took a latex dildo sheeth that was an anatomically correct penis, cut a 'dill-hole' into the end, and put this on the turkey baster. He put this between his legs, squeezed the bottle with his thighs, and proceeded to "pee" all over me; we immediately served drinks through this latex penis contraption. The best part: alcohol breaks down latex dildo sheeths, so it quickly became sticky; we had a blast the next few weeks throwing it against the walls of the house and watching it stick. Or sticking it to the ceiling, having a penis hanging down. Ah...memories.

Kingman recently had a room full of hospital supplies and costumes. Two people would come in at a time and be assigned the role of nurse or patient, and then get to roleplay for a while.

I've done a couple:

* BART station: made a full-size bart train mockup, ticket gates, and BART sounds playing in the background. I was a bum in a pile of trash in the corner and I served cheap wine out of a paper bag. Liz was in full costume as a driver leaning out of the front window. We put all sorts of official-looking signage around the house directing people to Kingman Station.

* Sensory overload room: We had ten speakers playing different songs or sound effects, no lights, and a maze of sheets hanging from the ceiling. The closet was full of jungle noises in surround-sound.

* Sideways room, with Ping: http://zestyping.livejournal.com/97476.html

* Ravendell, a rave in Rivendell: Strobe light, foliage, glow sticks, elf costumes, and a techno remix of the LOTR theme (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~dtw/Music/Ravendell.mp3) I made.

* And the old classic, same-sex body shots on a pirate ship.

in residence we once had a themed room/themed drink party. Everyone decorated their room up as something, and made a drink to match. eg, one guy had his room all done up like st patrick's day, and we had irish coffee. I did mine up like a cheesy 80's prom, with streamers and balloons, and then had punch that I spiked with vodka. It was pretty good overall because we all got to 'design' their room, and then unveil it for everyone.

this semester my room was inspired by a tv show- "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge: Kentucky Derby!!!"
we served mint juleps, made a track on the floor with tape and dressed up like southern belles. then we had horse races where people were the horses (with masks and saddles) and other people had to ride them like jockeys (with helmets and whips). the winning jockey got a blue ribbon and the horse was draped with leis. also- Extreme Kentucky Bluegrass mix cd!
