It seems that the College of Letters & Science has played their move in this little game that has arisen from my desire to major in Mathematics. They've sent me a letter (now, six weeks after I submitted my request) saying that they didn't consider my request, because allegedly I was missing a signature somewhere (which is funny, because the petition came from COE with the Dean's signature and everyone else's). However, they thoughtfully add, "However, I am not returning it for signatures because your petition would be denied even with the signatures." It's my turn now, and it doesn't look easy. It's time to start fighting for real.

I really do hate the bureaucracy at Cal.

According to rumour, the company I work for often gets around its termination rules by telling someone they have a vacation, waiting till they're out of town, then calling repeatedly, leaving messages on their machine saying their vacation has been cancelled. When they don't get the message, cancel their vacation and fly back immediately, they get fired for not showing up... Clever, no?
