rainy season

It's been hot and sunny in Japan since I arrived here, almost two weeks ago. I've caught a few off-hand comments about the "rainy season" being a few weeks late, and yesterday when rain appeared on the forecast, there was some clarification requested about whether it said "rain" or "heavy rain". I got the idea that the "heavy rain" is something to respect.

Now it is coming down in buckets outside. The "rainy season" has arrived.
