2002-03-28 Torsdag: 25 km bikeride

I didn't wake up very early, and the libraries and Östgöta Nation are closed for the Påsk holiday. But I did do my laundary, clean my room and mop the floor, bike something like 25 kilometers, acquire the recipe for Norwegian waffles, buy a kilogram of black beans and start soaking them in water, and I'm going to see the film Heftig og begeistret (imdb) in half an hour.

The bike ride was pretty fun. I started out just going down to get a falafel in the centrum. Delphi might be devoid of living creatures, but Stortorget was as packed as its ever been with sun-worshipping swedes, consuming their ice cream and with children running around with metallic helium baloons. People were even out on blankets, sleeping or reading or just sunbathing.

I rode south down Kyrkogatan and into the countryside south of Lund on the bike path towards Malmö. There's lots of neat stuff down there. The S:t Lars mental hospital is an interesting place, and doubtlessly more than just architecturally. There's also a farm down there with free range chickens and six funny little goat-like-creatures, who seem to eat sticks and bark. What a diet. Some nice places for picnicing down there too. I kept riding and rode through some stone-age settlement ("Lund before Lund") and then turned north-west and rode to Staffanstorp, which turned out to be a very boring place, although there was a nice view of Lund in the distance. Lund really is on a hill, but you can only really see it from a distance. Rode back as the sun set and the full moon rose, engourged by atmospheric magnification. Also discovered that there's a circus in town, camped out on the southern fringe; found the old astronomical observatory; explored statsparken. Tired of riding, I took the bus to filmstudion from Delphi.
