John and I have been playing phone-tag today. It turns out he's in Washington, DC.. I wonder what he's doing there? Other phone related news: I can use Cingular's network now with my ATT Wireless account! Yay for capitalism! Hehe. Cingular's network has full signal strength in this hotel room, but ATT has just zero or one bars of signal. Funny, I thought that 'bar' was a unit of barametric presure...

Any GSM phone will let you (1) see what networks exist in the local area, and (2) choose one of them. A GSM phone will choose a network automatically based on some programming in the SIM (?), and will always choose a network if one exists.. for instance, if ATT and Cingular are not present, I'll be connected to T-Mobile.. but not allowed to make calls except 911.
